Olympia Waldorf School
Step One
How to Apply
Interest and Inquiry
Inquiry packets are mailed to prospective families upon request. Please review the material in the inquiry packet and contact our Enrollment Coodinator or call 360-493-0906. Families are encouraged to attend at least one school event prior to application. These events include our seasonal festivals and open houses, Walk Through the Grades, Curriculum Faire, Kindergarten Mini-Mornings and more. School tours are scheduled upon request.
Step Two
Application
To initiate the enrollment process, the application form and $25 application fee are required. Open enrollment begins each year on March 1. Mid-year enrollment is handled case-by-case. Applications are date-stamped upon receipt and priority is given on a first-come, first-served basis.
Application for Kindergarten
All applications received are kept in order of the date received, however, many different factors are considered in offering kindergarten placement. The enrollment process for kindergarten begins March 1 for the subsequent school year. Returning families and younger siblings are given priority placement until March 1. After March 1, vacancies will be identified and filled. There are a limited number of 3-day students admitted to the kindergarten program. The majority of vacancies are offered to 5-day requests. This balance helps to ensure that the class teacher can meet the needs of all children. It is to be expected that the younger children require more physical time and attention, and we must ensure that there is an appropriate number of children ready to attend first grade each year. In order to keep our classes in balance, families requesting 3-day positions instead may be offered 5-day positions. Children in their last year of kindergarten before entering first grade must attend the 5-day program. Our “Five Steps to Kindergarten” flyer details every step of the kindergarten enrollment, as well as specific dates of Mini Mornings and Play Dates.
Step Three
Interview
Once the school is in receipt of an application and fee, the next step is a scheduled interview between the parents, student and faculty. In the kindergarten, however, the interview is two-fold; all new families seeking enrollment must attend a Kindergarten Play Date for child observation and schedule a Parent Interview, as well.
Step Four
Finalizing Enrollment
Once the faculty and parents mutually agree that the
