Camp OWS

Frequently Asked Questions

When does camp run?
Camp OWS runs Monday--Friday, June 9 -- August 29, 2008.  There is no camp on July 4th.  Camp begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 2:00 p.m. each day. Extended care is available before and after camp beginning at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 5:30 p.m.

How much is the camp?
Early bird rate: $325 per two-week session before May 1.
Regular tuition rate: $350 per two-week session.

How do I register?
Registration is open to OWS students beginning March 21.  After March 28, registration is open to the public.

Click here to download the camp brochure/registration form (after March 21).

Are there discounts?
Yes!  There is a sibling discount of $35 for the second and additional siblings attending the same session.  If you enroll in two or more sessions at the same time, take $20 off the cost of the second and additional sessions.

Is there care before and after camp?
Yes, we offer an extended day program between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and between 2:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. The price is $5 per hour and it’s billed in ½ hour increments.  Purchase an extended care punch card on the first day of camp in $5 increments.

Can my child attend part time?
We have a limited number of three-day spots open each session.  Once those spots are filled, we will only be able to accept full-time registrations.  The three-day fee is $210.

Can my child only attend for one week?
We have a limited number of three-day slots open each session.  If there is room in the session, a family wanting a one-week session would purchase a three-day enrollment and attend for one camp week at the three-day tuition fee.  The three-day fee is $210.

How will the children be divided into groups?
At Camp OWS, we divide the students into “Explorer Groups” by age and/or grade.  We generally keep the age range to no more than two years, though some events and activities will include a wider span.  Explorer groups consist of a Explorer Group leader who will serve as the group and staff facilitator as well as a camp counselor and assistants.  The curriculum and activities are all based on the session theme and will be presented in an age/developmentally-appropriate manner.

Who will staff the camp?
Camp OWS is primarily staffed by the gifted teachers and assistants from our K-8 school, many of whom are Waldorf-certified or in a Waldorf teacher training program.  Our stellar assistants are students from area universities and high schools.  All of our staff have clean background checks, successfully complete counselor training and are CPR/First Aid certified.
