Why the eighth grade trip matters
The eighth grade trip is the culmination of the middle school experience. We live in a divided and fragile world today, and the eighth grade trip allows the students, teacher, and chaperones to live together in harmony, love and respect one another, and take care of each other to make the world a better place in small ways.
A journey that shapes who we become
When I took the first part of my eighth grade trip at my Waldorf school, my teacher came up with some qualities and words that might be the highlight of what we needed to accomplish and experience. My teacher chose the theme of the eighth grade trip to be perseverance, overcoming, and being true to oneself. We went climbing to a lake at 13,390 feet in the Himalayas, to take a closer look at the Manimahesh Mt. Kailash peak that stood majestically behind us. The next part of my eighth grade trip was working at a farm in the Thar Desert, where a piece of barren land was converted into a sustainable farm. I came away from those trips a different person, and I am grateful that my teacher knew exactly what we needed.
Wonder, collective, and wholeness
For the Class of 2027, I have chosen the themes to be wonder, collective, and wholeness. We are furiously fundraising to go on our 8th grade trip to Japan. Our trip will focus on history, culture, and observation. Our goal is high and our wishes are deep. We are hoping that you will extend a generous hand in helping us reach our fundraising goal. Please donate any amount to make this dream a reality!
