There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes.

At the Olympia Waldorf School, we embrace the outdoors. To keep that experience enjoyable, it is important to dress children in clothing that will keep them dry and comfortable no matter the season.

First Day Checklist — Early Childhood

• Base layers

• Non-slip slippers

• Change of socks (wool best)

• Change of underwear

• Change of pants

• Long-sleeved shirt

• Short-sleeved shirt

• Sunhat

• Rain coat

• Rain pants (bib overalls best)

• Insulated rain boots

• Warm hat & gloves

• Warm sweater

• Rain mittens (multiple pairs)

Reminders

  • · Regularly check your child's cubby for a full set of clean, dry clothes.
  • · Write your child's name on every item.
  • · All clothing should be free from media or distracting images.
  • · Shoes must be sturdy, closed-toed, easy to put on, and without lights.
  • · Please leave toys and special jewelry at home.

Pro Tips

  • · The most effective rain gear has a rubberized outer coating that is 100% waterproof.
  • · Before buying a one-piece rain suit, talk to your teacher first — many prefer separate rain pants for flexibility.
  • · Consider a boot/glove dryer. Kids will find the deepest puddle!

Comfort Kits

A Comfort Kit sustains a child in the short term following an emergency. Please gather items in a gallon-sized zip bag, label with your child's name, and bring on the first day. Include non-perishable food items (2,000–3,000 calories) and 2 granola/protein bars.
