Olympia Summer Day Camps

Registration is now OPEN! Summer Camp 2026 brings Fairies, Gnomes, and Creatures galore to our beautiful outdoor campus.

Olympia Waldorf School's summer camp is held entirely in the outdoor spaces around campus. Weekly themes rotate, giving students the opportunity to frolic with fairies, construct gnome homes, and craft creatures from clay. Each day follows a familiar Waldorf rhythm of in-breath and out-breath — storytime, arts and crafts, rest, circle, and ample time for free and structured play outside.

Open to current OWS families, the public, and anyone interested in joining our community.

Camp Details

• Ages: 3–11
• Dates: June 15 – August 14, 2026 (9 weeks)
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, excluding holidays
• Hours: 9 am–3 pm full day; 9 am–12 pm half day
• Extended care: 8:15–9 am and 3–4:30 pm

• Fairies: June 15–18, June 22–26, July 27–31
• Gnomes: June 29 – July 3, July 6–10, August 3–7
• Creatures: July 13–17, July 20–24, August 10–14
• Toadstool Troupe (Younger): July 6–10 & July 13–17, performance July 17
• Toadstool Troupe (Older): July 20–24 & July 27–31, performance July 31

Pricing

• $375 / week — full-day camp
• $200 / week — half-day early childhood camp
• $90 / week — extended care
• $675 — Toadstool Troupe (two-week session)

Discounts: 10% off when registering for multiple weeks, and 10% off for siblings. Limited day slots become available June 1st.

Weather Policy

Camp will be cancelled if the heat exceeds 100°F or the air quality is at or above 130 AQI.

Refund Policy

Cancellations on or before June 1st receive a 50% refund. No full refunds are offered. Prorated refunds are provided for weather-related cancellations.

Programs by Age

Chanterelles (ages 3–5)

Our early childhood program offers a nurturing space for children to find harmony in nature. Weekly themes invite children to connect with the magical world of fairies, gnomes, and mythical creatures through outdoor exploration and crafts. The program is mainly held in the expansive Kinderwoods, with nature walks, mushroom scavenger hunts, and river play. A gentle daily rhythm balances structured programming and free play to foster creativity, social development, and connection to the outside world. Circle time uses Waldorf folktales, movement, and fingerplays to engage the child's sense of wonder. Activities include sensory exploration, nature-inspired crafts, and imaginative play.

Lions' Manes (ages 5–7)

Children explore curiosity and creativity through nature-focused activities. Rooted in Waldorf principles, this program encourages hands-on learning, artistic expression, and rhythmic routines. Each day follows a structured yet flexible rhythm, balancing guided activities with free play in nature. Arts and crafts projects emphasize natural materials and handwork skills like finger-knitting and weaving. Activities include constructing elaborate fairy villages, gnome homes, and bug hotels, plus earth-art mobiles and sailboats.

Morels (ages 7–11)

Children engage with the natural world through outdoor play and nature-based art. Rooted in Waldorf principles, this program encourages hands-on learning, artistic expression, and rhythmic routines. Circle and storytime form part of the daily rhythm, balancing guided activities with free play in nature. Arts and crafts emphasize natural materials and more ambitious handwork projects — knitted handwork bags, flute pouches, or a bearded gnome. Activities include watercolor salt paintings, parachute games, and constructing wind chimes.

Toadstool Troupe — Younger (grades 1–4)

A two-week program that introduces children to storytelling and theatre by putting on a play. Inspired by Waldorf education, the program emphasizes hands-on learning, movement, and artistic expression to nurture budding thespians. Each day balances outdoor play with theatrical programming — painting backdrops, creating costumes, and practicing scene work. Activities also include nature-based art, improvisational games, and crafting bug hotels. The last day features a performance for family and community members.

Toadstool Troupe — Older (grades 5–8)

A two-week program that builds on the child's understanding of storytelling and theatre by putting on a play. The structured daily rhythm balances outdoor play with theatrical programming — designing and creating costumes, backdrops, and props for the show. Activities also include improvisational games, tending to the garden, and crafting the show's playbill. The last day features a performance for family and community members.
