Nature-immersed early childhood

Schedule a Tour

Situated on five acres of field, garden, and woodland in rural East Olympia, Olympia Waldorf School fosters a deep connection to nature in early childhood so that it may be a source of strength and joy for a lifetime.

Our Preschool and Kindergarten children spend a large part of their day immersed in the natural world, with an emphasis on creative play, social interaction, and the awe and wonder of nature.

Our campus and neighboring farm provide children with a forest, farm, and trail experience unique to our school.

The early childhood classrooms are designed to suggest a home-like environment so that young children feel secure and comfortable. There is a restfulness and orderliness in the classroom and in the rhythms the teacher establishes — the rhythms of the seasons, of the day, and of the curriculum itself.

The teachers bring rhythm, ritual, and reverence to the Waldorf kindergarten. The beautiful physical environment, the purposeful work of the day, and the reverent presentation of the curriculum all encourage healthy growth and a respect for life and one another.

Even the mood of the music in the classroom draws forth the healthy imagination of each child.

Outdoor play and exploration, nature walks, singing, painting, baking, cooking, handwork, modeling, and indoor play are just some of the activities that make up a week in our Early Childhood program.
