Time Spent Outdoors in Nature
Situated on several acres of field, garden, and woodland in rural East Olympia, the Olympia Waldorf School is able to foster a deep connection to nature in early-childhood so that it may be a source of strength and joy for a lifetime!
Our Preschool and Kindergarten children spend a large part of their day immersed in the natural world with an emphasis on creative play, social interaction and the awe and wonder of nature.
Our campus and neighboring farm provide the children with a forest, farm and trail experience unique to our school.

Our Work is Our Play
The early childhood classrooms are intended to suggest a home-like environment so that the young child feels secure and comfortable. There is a restfulness and orderliness in the classroom and in the rhythms that the teacher establishes — the rhythms of the seasons, of the day, and even of the content of the curriculum. The protective rhythms are essential to the well-being of the whole child.
The teachers provide the rhythm, ritual, and reverence that live within the Waldorf kindergarten. The beautiful physical environment, the rhythmic work of the day, the reverent presentation of the curriculum all work within the young child to encourage healthy growth and a respect for life and one another. Even the mood of the music which lives in the classroom draws forth the healthy imagination of the child.
